Thank you Lord for Great Colleagues!

I really thank God for great colleagues at my workplace. It has been some 10 months now since I join this organisation but I am still relatively quiet and shy when with them. But they nonetheless take good care of me...

Over the weekend of early July, some of my colleagues and I took a short trip to Malacca. This is my first trip to Malacca but because my colleagues were familiar with the place, we managed to do quite a number of things over the 2 days like eating the famous Bak Kut Teh at Malacca Town, stay in a bungalow chalet in a neighbour that looks like the US suburbs, visiting the Animal Safari at A' Farmosa, watch fireworks at close range, feed cows and eat fresh durians at my friend's grandmother's farm, waddle around (since I can't swim) in the chalet pool, lastly eat and shop in Mahkota Parade.

On the first night, my colleagues also waited till midnight and upon the stroke of midnight, they brought out a buttercake with a candle on it. Though it is just a simple cake, I was really touched by the gesture and did not know how to react to it... This is the first time I am in Malacca, the first time I celebrated my birthday overseas, the first time I celebrate it with butter cake and the first time I had to cut the cake with swiss army knife (later they found a plastic knife which came with the cake, but I had already finish cutting the cake :D). With colleagues these good, I sometimes feel bad that I somehow am still so shy with them and I always have this bad habit of feeling paisay to ask for help. This happened twice recently when I was preparing for a meeting and when I had to photocopy a few hundred sets of the volunteer application form. I would usually just quietly go about the task and soon they will just come along to ask if I need help. Then the whole department will mobilize themselves to come help me do "production line stapling". The same thing during the meeting, they mobilized themselves to help me with food and refreshments and helped to moved tables, buy the food, prepare the hot water flask, clear up etc. Always kick myself for feeling paisay and not asking for help... bad habit! Nonetheless, I thank God greatly for blessing me with such great colleagues!
