Glimpses of Hong Kong

Listen to this article Listen to this article

OK, the trip to Hong Kong was good. Got to really experience a different culture from Singapore, spent 4 days there walking amidst Hong Kongers and I must say it is really a unique feeling. Being away from Singapore a while did help me to destress a bit... at least I preoccupy myself with trying to figure out where to go and how to go rather than being preoccupied with what has happened these few weeks...

Hong Kong has such a wonderful transportation system so much so you can get anywhere in cabs, buses, ferries, trams and their MTR... Their train stations can be a bit confusing at first but once you get the hang of it, you are off to places in no time... the stations are big enough with over 10 exits, so be sure to check out where you are going and know which exit to take... have a map handy.

Hong Konh basically is a bustling city, every moment you will find tonnes of people walking past you in all directions, you can hardly find a street that is quiet in Hong Kong. There is so much activities going on and the traffic noise is thunderous. There is constantly road works and a lot of renovation going on everywherem contributing to the noise... Do be careful when you walk on the streets. While navigating through the streets, you have to be ware of road works, traffic as well as water dripping from above... Do have a map ready because Hong Kong is full of tall buildings, most quite old, all competing with each other, reaching for the sky. It is for this reason that you don't see much of the sky as compared to Singapore where the buildings are also more spaced apart...

Something happened in Hong Kong also which fed my ego :) While shopping, someone approach me, supposedly from a magazine, and asked if I will be keen on doing a feature on clothes. Basically they get people off the streets to model in some clothes from the stores there for their magazine... Hahaha despite this might be a scam, it of course did make me feel good also hahahaha... said I looked cute.... maybe cute, ugly but adorable. :D

Here are some glimpses...
